Company Sponsored CDL Training

There are a lot of people that would love to become a professional truck driver but they find that the training involved costs a bit too much for them and their family to afford that this time. You have to consider that training for your CDL can be upwards of $3,000 to $6,000 depending on what school you attend and what state you live in.

Because of the price that is affixed to getting your CDL, you might want to look at company based training. There are a lot of companies out there that will help you get trained for your CDL.

These companies will essentially hire you to be their employee and offer you the training you need to fulfill an obligation according to a contract you sign. Most companies will require you to work for them from anywhere between 2 to 4 years and, in return, they will offer you the training you need to pass your CDL exams and become licensed to drive for them. This is a great option for anyone that doesn’t have the money for school or can’t get a loan because of bad credit to pay for schooling.

There are a few things you will need to understand about company based training, however. The first thing is that some companies are very particular about who they hire and train. If you have a spotless driving record, can and have passed drug and alcohol testing in the last few years, and don’t mind working over the road for a few months once you are licensed, then you should have no problems getting accepted for training by them.

They will make you sign a contract with them that has all the obligations you must perform for their company and if you do not, then you will have to pay back all of the training costs or a prorated amount depending on the amount of time you have actually worked for them after getting your CDL.

Some of these companies will even pay you while you are training and that is a great benefit for anyone that needs the money before they actually get their CDL and start working.
