Can CDL Violation Tickets in California Cost Me My License?

The short answer to this question is yes. Of course, violation tickets in any state can end up costing you your license if you are not careful. It’s not just moving violations that can get your licensed suspended, either; there are quite a few truck drivers that have been suspended from driving over failure to pay child support as well.

These are things that you need to consider when deciding on whether or not to become a CDL driver, and since this is your lively hood on the line, you will need to be extra careful.

Some companies will let a couple of small tickets slide as long as you take care of them, but some companies can fire you after the first violation, regardless of what the ticket was for. This is due to the standards that are set forth in the trucking community and having tickets will reduce the points on your license; therefore, if you get multiple tickets you could end up losing your license for good and that means you won’t have money coming in anymore.

Even driving 15 miles over the limit or following too closely can end up costing you your CDL career, and that is not something that you would want to happen. It is therefore imperative that you maintain the rules and regulations of the road and pay attention to everything around you, unless you have another career you can try.
